The Lion Clubs from Camden, South Thomaston, and Waldoboro are launching a joint scholarship effort this spring to aid graduating high school students at the Mid-Coast School of Technology.
These three Lion Clubs have recognized the nationwide shortage of skilled tradespeople and have worked together to create six $500 yearly scholarships. Each Lion Club’s two scholarships will be awarded to students who have been attending MCST from that club’s local high school jurisdiction. The scholarships may be used to further the recipients career and technical education at colleges and other post secondary institutions.
Additionally, the Mid-Coast Leos, a youth organization for boys and girls ages 12 to 18 which is sponsored by the Camden Lions Club, have created the “Geared for Success Award” that provides $500, which the recipient may use to purchase necessary tools and equipment required for continuing their education, or when entering directly into the workforce after graduation. This award will also be given annually starting this year.
Current MCST students may apply for these scholarships through the MCST website.
