PORTLAND — The Midcoast will be well-represented in the Class B South high school basketball championships, as teams from neighboring area school districts vie for regional titles.

And, thanks to Mother Nature — who does as she pleases — there are last-minute date, time and venue changes for those contests.

On the girls side, No. 2 Oceanside of Rockland (18-0) will play No. 5 York (12-5) at noon on Saturday, Feb. 26 at the Portland Exposition Building.

On the boys side, No. 4 Medomak Valley of Waldoboro (17-4) will play No. 2 Yarmouth (18-3) at 2 p.m. at the same venue.

The games originally were scheduled for Friday, Feb. 25 at later times at the Cross Insurance Center, but the Maine Principals’ Association announced the games would be moved to Saturday due to a winter storm forecast on Friday.

Additionally, there are various options available to view or listen to the regional championship games.

The old-fashioned way, of course, is to attend, in-person, the games at the Expo in Portland. The price of admission is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors/students.

There is a mandatory mask policy at the venue as well as a vaccine mandate or proof of a negative test against COVID-19 within 72 hours of the event.

Or, there are various radio and streaming options available.

Frank 106.9 FM, WBQX will broadcast the games on radio, with the pregame show for the girls game to begin at 11:40 a.m. and the boys game to immediately follow. This service is free.

WHOU-FM also offers WHOU.live, which broadcasts games from Portland, Augusta and Bangor for $10 a month. WHOU.live can be viewed online or streamed on Roku or Amazon Fire TV.
