UNION — During Nutrition Week of WinterKids, Donna Munro’s fourth graders did some baking and giving, as they took part in King Arthur’s Bake for Good program and learned how to make bread.
The students made two loaves of bread each, taking one home and giving one to each classroom and staff in the school. King Arthur not only provides almost all of the ingredients, but students learn to bake from the experts at King Arthur via the internet. Cooking/math class was never so much fun. The class also made butter to go with the bread.
WinterKids Program encourages good nutrition for strong bodies. Fourth graders found out they needed strength for kneading the dough and shaking the cream, but it was worth it for the aroma and taste of their own homemade bread.
