NORWAY — Camden Hills Nordic skiers hit the trails of the Robert’s Farm Preserve on Wednesday, Jan. 19 for their first foray into high school cross-country racing for 2021-22 at a 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) event hosted by Oxford Hills of South Paris.

The Windjammer girls led the way with a solid second-place finish — 10 points behind the winning host Vikings — while Camden Hills’ Allison Gill (third) and Elise Hildreth (fourth) placed among the top five.

Besides those top two skiers, the Windjammers also had a strong pack who snow athletes who secured the 10th through 15th spots.

The boys team scores were: Oxford Hills 781, Leavitt of Turner 767, Edward Little of Auburn 750, Mount Abram of Strong 744, Spruce Mountain of Jay 725, Camden Hills 703 and Telstar of Bethel 175.

The girls team scores were: Edward Little 786, Camden Hills 776, Leavitt 552, Mount Abram 379, Telstar 379, Lake Region of Bridgton 194, Spruce Mountain 185, Oxford Hills 182.

There were 26 girls who finished and 38 boys who crossed the course.

The Windjammer girls individual results, along with the winner of the race, included: 1, Nora Condit, Edward Little, 19:45; 3, Allison Gill, 21:08; 4, Elise Hildreth, 21:15; 10, Lee Zwecker, 26:10; 11, Brenna Mackey, 27:14; 12, Natalie Gill, 18 27:27; 13, Maggie Gill, 16 27:47; 14, Abigail Harrison, 27:52 ; 15, Lucy O’Brien, 28:56; 18, Charlotte Taylor, 29:44; 19, Amelia Porter, 32:17; 25, Eliana Cortese, 42:24; and 26, Flora Gurdon, 45:03. Iselin Bratz also competes for Camden Hills.

The Windjammer boys individual results, along with the winner of the race, included: 1, Abram Geistiger, Spruce Mountain, 15:34; 24, Quinn Riordan, 21:50; 27 Soren Beckstrom, 22:31; 34 Colin Wright, 32:35; and 36, Benjamin Tohanczyn, 37:12.
