The owners of the downtown Rockport hotel, that is on hold due to a court challenge from neighbors, have scheduled an open house for the public.

The open house at 20 Central Street’s Harbor View Hotel will be Friday and Saturday (Jan. 21 and Jan. 22) from noon to 2 p.m.

The public is invited to attend.

During the open house visitors will see the hotel’s front façade, including detailed brick and granite work, and get a chance to walk through the interior spaces that have started to be framed in for rooms, and public bar/lounges located in the lobby and on the top floor.

Construction on the hotel has stopped due to the court order that revoked the building permit. The Rockport Planning Board will hear the project again at its meeting scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27. The Planning Board will conduct a site-walk at noon, Wednesday, Jan. 26 or noon, Thursday, Jan. 27 if there is bad weather on Wednesday.

The new plan is for a 20-room hotel to comply with the court order and the ordinance change approved by voters. The project had been approved for 26 rooms.
