WALDOBORO — The Daughters of the American Revolution award was created in 1934 and is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. Ruth Havener, daughter of Cecily and Andrew Havener of Friendship, Maine is this year’s Medomak Valley High School DAR Good Citizen.
Ruth participates in numerous service activities in her community and school. She has held leadership positions in Children’s Church and Vacation Bible School, and is a member of her church’s Worship Team and Youth Group. Community Service activities include: The annual turkey drive, involvement in NuDay Syria, Town Clean Up and Partners for World Health.
Ruth is a self employed lobster woman, plays the violin, and participates in school athletics, including: soccer, softball, and basketball. An academic leader, Ruth has been awarded top eight in her class for several years, and has been recognized as a Student of the Month.
