THOMASTON — Nathan Charles Goldberg was born on Christmas Eve, 1951.  While his mother was hoping for a Christmas baby, Nathan couldn’t wait any longer. Ironically, he died  Christmas Eve, 2021, 70 years later.

Nathan is survived by a brother, Mark.  The family made yearly trips to the Moosehead area, dutifully stopping at Moody’s Diner on the way to and from. Nathan’s father was a renowned drummer, so Nathan got to meet many of the important musicians of the day. Nathan lived in NYC, Louisiana, Nantucket, Boston and finally, Maine.  He wrote and appeared in several shows that had him singing throughout the Borscht Belt.
Nathan was very proud of the recognition he received for the hundreds of hours he donated working with vets returning from Vietnam, He was past president of the Belfast Rotary, a winner of Realtor of the Year.  He owned Remarkable Realty in Searsport. He also worked for Bank of America as a loan officer.
In 2008, he met Mark Philbrook, and they went to Canada and were married. Throughout the next years, Nathan went through many very difficult and complicated health issues, always insisting on being his own advocate. Mark helped in any way he could, accepting the role of caregiver.  Rest in peace, my dear friend.
