ROCKLAND — The Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St., presents a screening of “Santa Claus Conquers the Martians” Thursday, Dec. 23, at 2 p.m. in the library’s community room and via Zoom. This film is not rated and has a runtime of 1 hour and 21 minutes. This event is free and open to the public.

This holiday cult classic is regularly listed as one of the worst films ever made. Famously featured on the comedy show “Mystery Science Theater 3000,” Nicholas Webster’s 1964 film tells the story of a group of Martian E.T.s who decide to abduct Santa Claus. “Talking back” to the film à la MST3K is encouraged. This event is recommended for adults and teens.

This event will be held in-person with limited seating and simultaneously screened over Zoom. For more information or to request Zoom links, please email by 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 and include the title of the film in the subject line.
