UNION — The Vose or Virtual Wednesday Series presents a talk by artist Randy Fein Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. A sampling of Fein’s ceramic art is currently on display at Vose Library, 392 Common Road.

The diversity of Fein’s ceramic work is evident in the variety of construction and firing techniques she has chosen to master over time. Fein creates wheel thrown, slab built and casted pottery pieces that are both functional and sculptural. These works are often hand painted with lively, fluid brush strokes using vivid color. Her expressive ceramic pottery and sculptures are inspired by the creatures that inhabit the sea and the sky. The artist also creates one-of-a-kind commissioned tile installations for kitchens and baths.

Fein takes on the challenge of working on a grand scale in clay. She has more than 35 large-scale relief tile and mixed media installations permanently placed in corporate, private and public settings such as schools, libraries and hospitals. A short list includes Eastern Maine Medical Center’s pediatrics facility in Bangor, Maine; Maine Medical Center’s emergency wing entrance hall in Portland, Maine; Castleton State College in Castleton, Vt.; Gorham Middle School in Gorham, Maine; and Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.

Vose Library’s patrons and friends are invited to this presentation that will be pre-recorded and then shown via Zoom. Closed captioning will be available.
