WALDOBORO — The Medomak Valley boys basketball team is back on the court to battle foes from across the state in preseason affairs, with the Panthers’ most recent game being a home clash with Edward Little of Auburn.
The Panthers built a solid first-half lead on the Red Eddies, but the visitors made just enough plays down the stretch to pull out a 47-43 win on Wednesday night, Dec. 1.
The Panthers led 17-8, 28-14 and 39-32 at the breaks before being outscored 15-4 in the fourth quarter.
MVHS hampered its effort to pull out the victory by going 1-of-8 from the foul line in the final eight minutes.
Patrick McKenney keyed the hosts with 14 points, while Trevor Brown and Finn Parmley grabbed seven rebounds.
John Shea poured in 24 points for Edward Little.
The Panthers, guided by longtime coach Nick DePatsy, also defeated Wells and lost to Yarmouth in preseason contests on Saturday, Nov. 27 in a tournament at Oxford Hills in South Paris. Medomak Valley has a handful of preseason contests lined up before it begins the regular season.
