ROCKLAND — The following cases were completed in the Knox County court from Nov. 19 through Nov. 26.

Kurtis A. Rome Bertrand, 27, Thomaston, domestic violence aggravated assault on April 2, 2020, in Rockland, will be dismissed as part of a 13-month long deferred disposition. If he adheres to terms of the agreement, he will plead guilty to Class C domestic violence assault and be sentenced to three years in jail, with all but nine months suspended, followed by two years on probation. That nine months to serve is a cap and the defense can argue for less time at the sentencing hearing. A bad outcome on the deferred disposition would result in an open plea to a Class B tampering with a witness, in which a sentence of up to 10 years could be imposed.

An affidavit filed by the Rockland Police Department stated a woman said Rome-Bertrand used both a hand and a forearm to try to strangle her. The officer noticed blood vessels had broken in one of the victim’s eyes, as well as an ear and her neck.

Jason M. Whalen, 43, Camden, assault on July 7, 2021, in Rockland, 120 days in jail, $300 fine; refusing to submit to arrest, 120 days in jail; violating condition of release, 120 days in jail; failing to report, 120 days in jail; and violating condition of release, 120 days in jail.

Darryl L. Wynn, 61, Brooklyn, N.Y., operating vehicle without license, dismissed.
