ROCKLAND — Maine Coastal Islands Art Gallery features three shows looking at the natural environment through the lens of a variety of art techniques. This exhibit will be on display through the winter at the Maine Coastal Islands NWR Visitor Center, 9 Water St.

Local artist and photographer Brandon Simpson of Camden explores the nature of coastal Maine through the lens of vintage Polaroid film cameras.

Sandi Cirillo of Searsport is a fiber/mixed media artist who uses the process of solar plate etchings. She showcases the beauty that is all around through her images of special places that she has visited in the state.

Twelve artists from the Midcoast provide a rich, diverse exhibit on the beauty of the coast in “Perspectives of the Gulf of Maine, Coastal Wildlife and Winter.”

The galleries are open to visitors Mondays through Fridays, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., except holidays. Hours are extended Saturdays, Dec. 4 and 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All art sales support both the artists and the Friends’ group. The Nature Store will also be open for holiday shopping.
