ROCKLAND — The Rockland Planning Board is schedule to review an applicationMonday, Dec. 7 for a new multi-story downtown building.

The application was filed with the city code enforcement office on Nov, 23 by Gartley and Dorsky Engineering & Surveying, on behalf of the property owner, Amy O’Donnell of Tenants Harbor, for 470 Main St. The application states the building will be used for a retail or wholesale business. Residences will be on the upper floors.

The $300,000 project, titled Candy Harbor, is expected to be completed in 2022.

The existing wooden building will be demolished. The current building is two-and-a-half stories with a footprint of about 1,200 square feet. O’Donnell purchased the property in January 2020. The building was constructed in 1900, according to city assessment records.

The plan calls for rebuilding the parking lot to the rear of the building.

The existing building at 470 Main St. would be demolished under the plan.
