Rockland’s Festival of Light’s celebration begins Saturday, Nov. 27.

The following is the schedule of events:

Saturday, Nov. 27

8 a.m. — Santa arrives at Middle Pier via Coast Guard boat

8:15 a.m. — Santa and the Mayor cut the ribbon officially opening Maine Street for the holiday shopping season.

8:30 a.m. — Breakfast with Santa at the Grew Owl (2 Park Drive, Rockland).

5 p.m. — Festival of Lights Parade. Judging by city council members. Sponsored by The First National Bank.

6 p.m. — Trap Tree lighting by Santa and the Mayor. Sponsored by Camden National Bank.

Sunday, Nov. 28

5 p.m. — Lighting of the Menorah or the first night of Hanukkah.

Saturday, Dec. 4

4:30 p.m. — Rockland Hanukkah Party at Harbor Park.

Festival of Trees Silent Auction

The Friends of the Rockland Public Library will hold their annual Festival of Trees silent auction on Saturday, Nov. 27 at the Rockland Public Library. The silent auction runs from 1-4 p.m.

More than 30 gaily decorated tabletop trees will be featured throughout the library. Each tree is decorated in inventive ways by local businesses and often includes a generous gift certificate. The Library will be decked out in the holiday spirit as well. Everyone is invited to stop in, enjoy some holiday cheer, see familiar faces and bid on your favorite tree(s). All proceeds from the Tree Auction go directly to support the Rockland Public Library.

Homemade Chicken Pie Sale

The People’s United Methodist Church is holding a homemade chicken pie sale.

Preorders are available for a Saturday, Dec. 4, at 3:30 p.m. pick up at the church.

The cost is $35 per pie, which serves seven people. All proceeds go to the church and community programs.

Collectible Toy & Bank Auction

On Wednesday, December 1 at 10:00 a.m. and just in time for the Holidays, Thomaston Place Auction Galleries will present a special Toy and Bank auction. This sale will include 595 lots of vintage and antique dolls & doll accessories, cast iron banks, rocking horses, comic books, pull and riding toys; die-cast lead figures, stuffed animals; and model trains & vehicles.
