CAMDEN — Atlantic Ballet Company of the P2P Dance Center in Camden, Rockport and Belfast presents its original version of Tchaikovsky’s beloved “Nutcracker” story ballet. On Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 4 and 5, the Camden Opera House, 29 Elm St., hosts 3 p.m. matinees.

Atlantic Ballet Company is celebrating its 21st presentation of this annual “Nutcracker” production, during which 32 very excited dancers are anxious to perform for family audiences once again.

This delightful family event will be presented during the Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce’s “Christmas by the Sea” weekend celebration.  ABC’s “Nutcracker” production continues to be a featured theatrical experience for both local audiences and seasonal visitors.

“During last year’s performance, the Camden Opera House welcomed us once again, however, we had the unprecedented challenge of performing with face coverings during the COVID pandemic,” said Michele Cox, director of Atlantic Ballet Company and P2P Dance Center. “Our dancers were only allowed to perform for 50 parents in the audience. This year we are allowed to perform for a more sizable audience. Our student dancers and professional guest artists are thrilled that entire families, as well as our public dance followers, are invited to enjoy this spectacular event.”

ABC displays grand Victorian sets with Land of the Snow and Kingdom of the Sweets backdrops painted by two local artists, Ilene Weintraub and the late Andrew Tessyman. In Act II, an array of colorful costumes adorns the Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Peppermint Candies, Arabian and Waltz of the Flowers dancers. Original choreography by directors Heather and Michele Cox bring to life this magical holiday tradition.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and children 12 and younger. Tickets are available at
