There were 13 additional COVID-19 cases in Knox County in the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Saturday, Nov. 20.

Since the pandemic began, 2,332 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus, 56 have been admitted to hospitals, and 14 have died.

Statewide, an additional 848 cases were reported in the past day. There were three additional deaths reported statewide Nov. 20, increasing the number to 1,271.

There were 13 additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 in the past day, increasing that number to 3,032 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

Hospitalizations of Maine residents remain near a record high. The CDC reports 273 Mainers are hospitalized with the virus, 74 in critical care units and 35 on respirators. Seventy percent of hospitalized patients are people who have not been vaccinated.

The number of people fully vaccinated in Knox County is 29,145, an increase of 16 in the past day. That amounts to 76 percent of the eligible population. Statewide, 72 percent of the eligible population has been vaccinated.

Health officials continue to urge people wear masks in indoor public places and to get vaccinated.
