ROCKLAND — The Rockland Historical Society thanks the Rockland Public Library, and the City of Rockland, for allowing the society to create a Family History Center in this room on the lower level of the library for after school projects on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

High school students will collect oral histories, research the histories of old buildings, and collect histories of industries that have disappeared from our economy — the lime industry, fishing, shipbuilding, ice, and farming. The students are working with Steve Merriam, a retired college professor, who plans to share the results on a student-created website.

Visit the new room during the Rockland Historical Society’s Annual Meeting and Open House, Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, from 2-5 p.m.
