CAMDEN — A section of Route 52 reopened around 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 5, less than a week after it was damaged during heavy rains Oct. 30-31.

The long downhill section of roadway damaged is near the Maiden Cliff trail in Camden Hills State Park. The state road is built over hilly terrain. Rain pouring downhill beside the road and from hills on the northwest side of the road scoured out the supporting material beneath the asphalt pavement.

The damaged section is located between Molyneaux Road and Beaucaire Avenue. This allowed for  a detour route travelling over the two local roadways.

The state highway is a major connector between Camden and Lincolnville, towns to the west, and is the backroad to Belfast.
