ROCKLAND — Rockland police issued a reminder to motorists Nov. 3 this is the season when there is an increase in car/deer crashes.

The department pointed out on its Facebook page there were two separate traffic accidents involving deer on the old County Road.

“With the longer nights and colder temperatures often comes a more active (and not always smart) deer population,” the department stated. “Please use caution, especially in the morning and evenings, of deer in the roadway.”

A review of incident reports from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office shows there were 10 car/deer incidents from Oct. 31 through Nov. 5. The crashes occurred in Warren, Washington, Union, South Thomaston, and Appleton. Most were at night, but there were two during daylight.
