There were 23 additional COVID-19 cases reported in Knox County during the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Saturday, Nov. 6.

Since the pandemic began, 2,177 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus, 53 have been admitted to hospitals, and 13 have died.

Statewide, an additional 698 cases were reported in the past day. There were three additional deaths reported statewide Nov. 6, increasing the number to 1,207.

There were 10 additional people statewide admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, increasing that number to 2,882 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

There has been another spike in hospitalizations. Currently, 223 Mainers are hospitalized with the virus, 78 in critical care units and 38 on respirators.

The CDC reported Nov. 5, 30,621 Knox County residents — 87 percent of the eligible population — are fully vaccinated. This is up four from the previous day.

Statewide, 80 percent of people have been fully vaccinated.

Health officials continue to urge people wear masks in indoor public places and to get vaccinated.
