THOMASTON — The culverts on Beechwood Street in Thomaston are being replaced with a bridge. This work has revealed the old culverts, as well as interlocking logs installed underground, likely dating back to the 1830s.

Municipal Officer Pete Lammert took photographs of the work.

Lammert said the bridge seriously increases the capacity of water allowed to flow under the road.
