ROCKLAND — The Regional School Unit 13 Board approved a five-year contract extension for Superintendent John McDonald Thursday, Oct. 28.

“John is an outstanding leader, a compassionate educator, and not only do we have full confidence in his ability to lead our district, we are so incredibly fortunate to have him,” RSU 13 Board Chair Loren Andrews said. “The fact that he wants to work another five years for RSU 13 is a reflection of what we’ve built together, and truly a gift to our staff, our students, and our community.”

The Board also approved  a 3 percent raise for the superintendent for next year and 2 percent in each of the remaining four years of the contract.

His current salary is $140,000.

McDonald has been RSU 13’s superintendent since August 2014. He previously served as assistant superintendent in the Belfast area school district and was a longtime educator in Waldo County schools.
