There were 19 additional COVID-19 cases reported in Knox County in the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Saturday, Oct. 30.

Two more Knox County residents were admitted to a hospital in the past day due to the virus as well.

Knox County has seen 159 new cases since Oct. 22.

Since the pandemic began, 2,063 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus, 52 have been admitted to hospitals, and 13 have died.

Statewide, an additional 588 cases were reported in the past day. There were four additional deaths reported statewide Oct. 30, increasing the number to 1,167.

There were seven additional people statewide were admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, increasing that number to 2,791 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

Currently, 198 Mainers are hospitalized with the virus, 78 are in critical care units and 38 on respirators.

The CDC reported Oct. 29 that 30,081 Knox County residents — 85% of the eligible population — are fully vaccinated. This is an increase of 197 people over the past day.

Statewide, 79 percent of people have been fully vaccinated.

Health officials continue to urge people wear masks in indoor public places and to get vaccinated.
