There were 30 additional COVID-19 cases reported in Knox County in the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported Wednesday, Oct. 27.

This follows an increase of 33 reported over the weekend.

Since the pandemic began, 1,984 Knox County residents have been diagnosed with the virus, 50 have been admitted to hospitals, and 13 have died.

Statewide, an additional 620 cases were reported in the past day. There were seven additional deaths reported statewide Oct. 27, increasing the number to 1,154.

There were 12 additional people statewide were admitted to hospitals in Maine with COVID-19 during the past day, increasing that number to 2,759 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

Hospitalizations have spiked again in Maine. Currently, 215 Mainers are hospitalized with the virus, 79 are in critical care units and 30 on respirators.

The CDC reported Oct. 26 that 29,281 Knox County residents — 83% of the eligible population — are fully vaccinated. This is an increase of 163 people over the past day.

Statewide, 77 percent of people have been fully vaccinated.

Health officials continue to urge people wear masks in indoor public places and to get vaccinated.
