ST. GEORGE — The St. George Municipal School Unit Board has advertised for an interim superintendent.

Last month the Board appointed Director of Special Education Jessica Berry to serve as the interim superintendent of the school unit. Berry also continues to serve as the director of special education and has the support of the school administration during this time of transition, according to minutes of the St. George Select Board Sept. 27 meeting.

The school board has retained the services of the Maine School Management Association to search for an interim superintendent to serve while the superintendent of record, Mike Felton, is on a leave of absence.

School Board Chair Jennifer Garrett said the school unit has advertised for an interim superintendent which would allow the special education director to go back to her position as full time director and “allow flexibility and continuity for the return of our superintendent.”

Felton has been superintendent since July 2015.
