WALDOBORO — More than 100 runners are expected to converge at Medomak Middle School on Thursday, Oct. 21 to compete in the Busline League cross-country team and individual championships, the first such event in many months due to the pandemic.

The boys will take off at 3:45 p.m. and girls about 4:30 p.m.

The young distance athletes have had a strong and campaign, with the opportunity to compete in many regular-season meets after being sidelined previously due to the pandemic.

The schools expected to compete on Thursday include Boothbay Region Elementary School, Camden-Rockport Middle School, Edna Drinkwater Elementary School of Northport, Great Salt Bay of Damariscotta, Lincolnville, Medomak of Waldoboro, North Haven, Oceanside of Thomaston, Searsport, St. George and Troy Howard of Belfast.

The league will present plaques to the boys and girls team champions and runners-up, as well as wards for the first- through third-place individual finishers in both races.

Among the teams favored to chase for team titles are the deep, talented teams from Camden-Rockport and Lincolnville.
