THOMASTON — The town of Thomaston celebrated the 115th birthday of resident, principal and educator Lura Libby with a special ceremony dedicating the Multipurpose Room in her memory.

Town Manager Kara George welcomed the crowd, including Libby’s family members, in-laws and former students.

George thanked public works, Lynn Snow, Susan Devlin and Brandon Allen for their efforts on the dedication.

The Thomaston Municipal Building was formerly Lura Libby school, named in honor of the prolific Thomaston resident.

The school monument, Libby’s diplomas and pictures of her are on display at the entrance to the building.
