The Medomak Valley of Waldoboro, Oceanside of Rockland and Vinalhaven pitch teams experienced a mixed bag of results as six high school soccer squad were in action Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 7-9.

In recent play, the Medomak Valley boys posted a 2-1 win over Gardiner and girls a 2-1 win over Lincoln Academy of Newcastle, while Oceanside came up short against Erskine Academy of South China.

In news from Vinalhaven, the Viking boys netted a pair of wins over Valley of Bingham, while the island girls earned a weekend split with the Cavaliers.

Boys soccer

Medomak Valley 2, Gardiner 1

At Waldoboro Oct. 8, the Panthers continue their ascension up the Class B South ladder with a win over the Tigers. Medomak Valley led 1-0 at halftime.

Vishal Mellor and Mohamedi Ngido creased the net for the Panthers, while Cam Rizzo had the lone goal for the Tigers.

Medomak Valley held a 15-9 edge in shots and 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Eli Pluecker made eight saves in goal for the Panthers, while Sean Doyle made seven saves in net for the Tigers.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class B South, Medomak Valley (10-2, 96.0608 points) is seventh, while Yarmouth (10-0-1, 185.0385 points) is first in the 16-team region.

Erskine Academy 6, Oceanside 1

At South China Oct. 9, the Eagles soared past the visiting Mariners. Erskine Academy led 4-0 at halftime.

Liam Perfetto finished with a hat trick in the win for Erskine Academy, while Cooper Goodwin added two and Aiden Larrabee one.

Hayden Jacques had the lone goal for Oceanside, while Alex Bartlett logged an assist.

Isaiah Meklin and Harrison Garcia split time in net for the Mariners.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class B North, Oceanside (2-9, 13.9670 points) is 10th, while Presque Isle (7-0-1, 149.7190 points) is first in the 15-team region.

Vinalhaven 3, Valley 1

At Vinalhaven Oct. 9, the Vikings emerged victorious against the Cavaliers.

Ira Stockman netted two goals for the islanders and Kyle Grant one. Tanner Lazaro minded the net for Vinalhaven.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class D South, Vinalhaven (3-3, 30.7618 points) is 11th, while Islesboro (5-0, 170.0002 points) is first in the 14-team region.

Vinalhaven 4, Valley 3

At Vinalhaven Oct. 8, the islanders bested the visiting Cavaliers.

Von Jones, Ira Stockman, Rob Swears and Kyle Grant netted goals for Vinalhaven. Tanner Lazaro played in goal for the hosts.

Girls

Medomak Valley 2, Lincoln Academy 1

At Waldoboro Oct. 8, the Panthers doubled up the visiting Eagles. The game was knotted 1-1 at halftime.

Annie Vannoy and Cameron Bains netted goals in the win for Medomak Valley, while Catarina Johnson had the lone score for Lincoln Academy.

The Panthers held a 17-3 edge in shots and 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Addison McCormick made two saves in  net for the hosts, while the Lincoln Academy keeper, whose name was unavailable, made seven saves.

In the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Class B South, Medomak Valley (11-1, 125.0320 points) is third, while Cape Elizabeth (10-1, 172.6610 points) is first in the 16-team region.
