A 28-year-old woman from Bath was found safe after a three-hour search Sunday night when she got lost in Mount Battie State Park.
The woman was hiking by herself around dusk Oct. 10 and called for assistance at about 6:30 p.m.
She was located on the Jack Williams Trail using GPS coordinates that the Knox County Regional Communications Center staff was able to get from the cell phone she used to call 9-1-1.
A team of one Coastal Mountains Search and Rescue and two Camden Firefighters located her and walked her out the Tablelands Trail to the Mount Battie auto road, Camden Fire Chief Chris Farley said. She was located around 9:30 p.m., approximately three hours after she called for help.
Assisting with locating her were 10 Camden firefighters, five people from Coastal Mountains SAR, KRCC staff, and one Maine Game Warden.
