The Rockland Fire Department quickly extinguished a fire Sunday night in a dumpster located near the U.S. Cellular store on Main Street.
The fire was called in by workers cleaning up from the adjacent Claws restaurant, according to Fire Chief Chris Whytock. The fire was reported after 8 p.m. Oct. 10.
The dumpster outside U.S. Cellular at 725 Main St. was about 10 feet from the building. The fire did not extend to the building, the chief said.
A cause of the fire was not determined. The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office was not available to respond since its investigators were responding to a fatal fire in another part of the state.
