ROCKLAND — A 28-year-old Rockland man was arrested Thursday, Oct. 7 accused of illegally possessing a firearm.

The charge against Joseph P. Robles came as officers were arresting him on an unrelated domestic assault charge.

Police received a report last month that Robles put a woman in a headlock during an argument. Police obtained an arrest warrant from the court for felony domestic violence assault. The charge is a felony because Robles has a prior domestic violence assault conviction from 2016 in Knox County.

Because of that conviction, he was also barred from having a firearm — a loaded Kel-Tec .380 pistol.

He was arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland. Bail was set at $5,000 cash during his initial appearance in the Knox County court Friday afternoon.

In another unrelated case, Rockland police announced that Oct. 7, they arrested 18-year old Neal Kenney V of Rockland for criminal conspiracy to unlawfully traffic scheduled drugs. The charge comes after Rockland Police received information regarding the sale of Xanax in Rockland.

Kenney is scheduled to appear in Knox County Court in December.
