UNION — Vose Library’s annual fall fundraiser, Soup & Suspense, featuring authors Tess Gerritsen and Gerry Boyle, is Wednesday, Oct. 27. Purchase a signed copy of Gerritsen’s and/or Boyle’s latest title for $5 each and pickup between 6 and 6:45 p.m. For a $10 suggested donation, a cup of harvest soup prepared by Sterlingtown Public House can also be picked up during that same time frame. In partnership with Come Spring Food Pantry, Vose encourages all participants to drop off a can of soup at pickup time. Zoom with the authors for free at 7 p.m.

Trained as a medical doctor, Gerritsen built a second career as a crime novelist. Her 30 novels include the Rizzoli and Isles series, on which the TV series “Rizzoli & Isles” is based. Among her titles are “The Surgeon,” “Gravity,” “Playing with Fire” and “Choose Me.” Her novels are translated into 40 languages and more than 30 million copies have been sold around the world. She lives in Midcoast Maine.

Boyle is the author of 15 crime novels, including the acclaimed Jack McMorrow mystery series. His latest McMorrow novel, “Random Act,” was awarded the 2020 Maine Literary Award for crime fiction, the second time a McMorrow novel has been chosen for that honor. Boyle is also the author of the Brandon Blake mystery series, featuring a young Portland police officer. His novels have been published in a half-dozen languages. A former newspaper reporter, columnist and magazine editor, he lives in central Maine.
