NEWCASTLE — Medomak Valley of Waldoboro and Oceanside of Rockland high school cross-country runners were back on the course on Thursday, Sept. 23 in a regular-season meet hosted by Lincoln Academy.

Mariner Maria Protheroe led the area group with a third-place finish in the girls race.

Maranacook’s Lina Martinez Nocito finished first among the 60 girls at 21:16.48 and Mount Blue’s Cyrus Evans first among 65 boys in 17:39.53 over the 3.1-mile course.

The girls team scores were: Lincoln Academy 36, Mount Blue of Farmington 37, Maranacook of Readfield 61, Messalonskee of Oakland 111, Medomak Valley 145 and Oceanside and Nokomis no score.

The boys team scores were: Messalonskee 26, Mount Blue 42, Lincoln Academy 75, Nokomis of Newport 101, Maranacook 120, Medomak Valley and Oceanside no score.

The individual results for area girls were: 3, Maria Protheroe, Ocean, 22:15.77; 28, Kassi Soule, Med, 25:38.47; 36, Emily Mahoney, Med, 27:57.82; 41, Jalyn Drost, Med, 29:18.03; 47, Elizabeth Bowman, Med, 30:53.48; 51, Jackie Kelly, Med, 31:49.04; 55, Kayla Betts, Ocean, 32:48.80; 58, Kylie Blake, Med, 34:21.04; and 60, Giuliana Galizia, Ocean, 38:42.80.

The individual results for area boys were: 22, Noah Morris, Med, 20:25.25; 47, Logan Grubb, Med, 23:03.59; 49, Atticus Blue, Med, 23:39.59; and 58, Deklin Fitzgerald, Ocean, 25:52.87.
