WALDOBORO — James C. Sprague, 74, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, at Pinnacle Rehab in Canton, where he was a resident for the last several years, of late stage respiratory disease; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and emphysema.

Jim was born Aug. 8, 1947, in Masardis, to the late Fred Allen Sprague II and the late Ruthie (Abbott) Sprague.

Jim was a graduate of Waldoboro High School, class of 1966. After graduation, he was drafted into the army Oct. 11, 1966, taking his basic training at Fort Hood, Texas, then serving in Korea.

Upon deployment back to the states, he served his remaining time at Fort Dix, New Jersey, attaining the rank of Sergeant E-5, and was discharged Oct. 12, 1968. He was very proud of his military service.

He married Lucille L. Simmons Sept. 30, 1966. They had one child, Nick Allen Sprague, born May 21, 1975. They were divorced in 1982.

Jim was employed at Bath Iron Works in Bath as a marine electrician for over 20 years. He enjoyed brook trout fishing in his earlier years.

Jim is survived by his son, Nick A. Sprague of South Thomaston; brother Fred Allen Sprague III of Carmel; several nieces, nephews and several cousins.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
