THOMASTON — Area organizations honored local veterans Sept. 18 with an emotional and heartfelt ceremony at the Thomaston Municipal Building.
The event was organized by Municipal Officer Sandy Moore and sponsored by the Lady Knox Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Orient #15 Lodge of Masons, American Legion Post 34 of St. George and local Girl Scout troops.
The ceremony honored nine local veterans, and one who passed away, by presenting them with quilts of valor.
Quilts of Valor is a national organization that presents individually-made quilts to veterans in honor of their service.
The quilts were made by JoAnn Bolduc, Central Region Coordinator for Maine Quilts of Valor.
