HOPE — Robert Madden Hall Sr., 97, of Hope, died at his home Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021. Born in Vinalhaven Sept. 3, 1924, he was the son of Burton and Ida (Madden) Hall and moved to Hope at the age of six. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the European Theatre in Normandy, France, Rhineland and Central Europe receiving five bronze stars.

On Aug. 9, 1947, Bob married Geneva Pearl Pearse in Union, making their home in Hope where he built their home. A hard worker all his life, Bob owned and operated his own poultry farm and tended and harvested acres of blueberry land. His other employment included the Camden Tannery, Tibbetts Industries, farming, and working for Earl Norwood as a butcher and farmer. One who could fix just about anything, Bob was known for his farming, construction, and mechanical skills. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on his farm equipment, vehicles, haying, tending his crops and gardens. He also liked hunting and fishing. After retiring, he and the love of his life, Geneva, enjoyed going snowmobiling, camping trips in their camper and taking bus tour trips to various locations.

Bob was predeceased by his wife, Geneva Hall on Dec. 10, 2015, and several siblings, William Hall and his wife, Ruby, Gerald Hall, Richard Hall and his wife, Grace, Nancy Malone and her husband, Fred. He is survived by three children, Robert M. Hall Jr. and his wife, Anne, of Hope, Duane Hall and his wife, Linda, of Daphne, Ala., and Kathleen Knight and her husband, Michael, of Gardiner; a brother, Asa Timothy Hall, of Venice, Fla, sister, Bette Higgins, of San Diego, Calif.; three sisters-in-law, Mildred O’Jala, of Union, Barbara Ludwig, of Hope, and Edna Hall, of Union; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a “PUFL” (Paid Up For Life) member of The American Legion Post 110, Union, for many years

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Hope Grove Cemetery.
