CAMDEN — Susan Cowan Conrad, died peacefully Sept. 5, 2021, after a long illness, at Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill in Camden.

Born in Humboldt, Tenn. on Nov. 25, 1946, she was the daughter of William G. and Rebecca Gene (Farmer) Conrad. Susan spent her childhood in Lancaster, Pa. and was a graduate of Linden Hall School for Girls in Lititz, Pa.

In 1969, she moved with her family to Camden where her parents founded The Owl and Turtle Bookshop & Motel. Susan worked there for 30 years. She was a communicant at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Camden, where she has enjoyed singing in the choir.

Predeceased by her parents, William G. Conrad Sr., and Rebecca Gene Conrad, she is survived by three brothers, William G. Conrad Jr. and his wife, Jan, John C. Conrad and his wife, Sandy and Jeffrey M. Conrad.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Sept. 27 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Camden. Interment will be in the Seaview Cemetery in Rockport.
