ROCKLAND — Oceanside High School homecoming activities scheduled for the weekend have been postponed, said Principal Jesse Bartke. However, most of the scheduled regular-season athletic events will be played.

The football game scheduled for Friday, Sept. 17 has been postponed, as well as a few other homecoming activities that surrounded that event.

The school’s homecoming celebrations will take place at other events later in the fall.

Mariner football was scheduled to host York on Friday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. at Wasgatt Field. There also was to be a sports team caravan from the school to the field that night, as well as a homecoming court at halftime of the game. None of those events will happen.

However, other regular-season Mariner athletic events will take place, but now will not be part of a homecoming celebration.

Oceanside field hockey will host Belfast on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 4 p.m. Additionally, Oceanside soccer will host Erskine Academy of South China on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 11:30 a.m. (girls) and 1:15 p.m. (boys).

Bartke said the school’s homecoming celebrations will be rescheduled for Oct. 1-5, with the following events:

Friday, Oct. 1 — Gardiner field hockey at Oceanside, 3:30 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 1 — Nokomis of Newport football at Oceanside, 7 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 2 — Medomak Valley girls soccer at Oceanside, 3:30 p.m.
