WATERVILLE — There were plenty of high school runners on the course — 120 to be exact — including 14 Camden Hills Windjammers on Friday, Sept. 10 in another regular-season cross-country meet.

Jenna VanRyn again paced the Windjammers with a strong second-place effort in an event hosted by Waterville High School.

Bangor distance athletes ruled the course as Megan Randall finished first among the 55 girls in 17:55 and Daniel McCarthy first among the 65 boys in 14:12.

The girls team scores were: Bangor 43, Camden Hills 63, Maranacook of Readfield 84, Waterville 93, Hampden Academy 108, Messalonskee of Oakland 143, Gardiner 150, Oxford Hills of South Paris 235 and Winslow and Winthrop no score.

The boys team scores were: Bangor 23, Hampden Academy 53, Messalonskee 72, Camden Hills 146, Oxford Hills 155, Erskine Academy of South China 162, Gardiner 196, Maranacook 200, Winslow 202, Waterville 251 and Skowhegan and Winthrop no score.

The Camden Hills girls individual results were: 2, VanRyn, 18:25; 7, Lauren Howland, 20:08; 8, Cassie Middleton, 20:17; 22, Zoe O’Brien, 22:05; 28, Addie Cortese, 22:29; 31, Annie Edge, 22:37; and 37, Lucy O’Brien, 23:50.

The Camden Hills boys individual results were: 24, Zachary Clement, 17:56; 27, Walker Hedrich, 18:06; 29, Henry McDevitt, 18:26; 30, Colin Wright, 18:27; 41, Finn Urey, 19:41; 43, Soren Beckstrom, 19:42; and 43, Sam VanLonhuyzen, 19:45.
