ROCKLAND — Rockland Elks Lodge 1008 held a special 20th anniversary ceremony to remember the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001.

The ceremony took place Sept. 10 with multiple guest speakers, including Maine State Rep. Valli Geiger, Carl Anderson of the Rockland Fire Department and Knox County Sheriff Tim Carroll.

The event was organized by Chipper Widdecombe.

Boy Scout Troop 215 folded the flag.

Molly Luce sang the Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America.

Members of the Elks read prose about the Sept. 11 attack, and letters from U.S. Sen. Susan Collins and United States Rep. Chellie Pingree.

Exalted Ruler Pam Heal thanked the crowd for attending, and a light reception was held inside after.
