The Oceanside soccer teams opened their 2021 high school seasons against Lincoln Academy of Newcastle as the Midcoast-based pitch squads came up on the short end.

The Mariners boys were dealt a 7-2 home loss on Sam Pendleton Field in Thomaston, while the girls were doubled up 2-1 by the Eagles on the road.

Lincoln Academy 7, Oceanside 2

At Thomaston Sept. 3, the Eagles netted the first four goals and rode that momentum to a season-opening win over the Mariners.

Melvin Sermeno and Alex Bartlett finished with a goal and assist for Oceanside.

Maddox Tilas and Casey Duncan netted two goals for the winners, while Nick Archer, Levi Farrin and Ben Sawer added one.

Lincoln Academy 2, Oceanside 1

At Newcastle Sept. 3, the host Eagles doubled up the Mariners. Lincoln Academy led 2-0 at halftime.

Audrey Mackie netted the goal in the second half for Oceanside, while Catarina Johnson and Skylar Houghton scored for Lincoln Academy.
