ROCKPORT — The Midcoast Recreation Center offers a good time for all ages on Friday, Sept. 10 in the arena’s Fun Fest.

The event is open to all ages, and hosts games of roller hockey, floor hockey, open roller skating and hockey target shooting, as well as other games from 5 to 7 p.m. The event also will have face painting and giveaways.

Registration for MRC’s fall and winter programs also will be open at the time.

MRC officials said those who bring a friend to the fest receive a free pass for stick and puck.

Bruins Academy Learn to Play

The MRC’s Bruins Academy Learn to Play program also returns with registration slated to open on Thursday, Sept. 9.

The program is for children ages 5-9 and designed to take children interested in learning to play hockey or who have participated in one of MRC’s introductory programs.

Children who have participated in the Bruins Academy Learn to Play program in the past are not eligible to participate again.

The four-week program runs Oct. 8 to Oct. 29 and costs $180, which includes a full set of youth hockey gear (skates, helmet, pads, stick and equipment bag).

Registration, which can be found here, is limited to 50 children.

Those registered for the Bruins Academy by Sept. 10 can get help measuring a child for their gear at Fun Fest.

MRC offers other youth hockey programs, as well as figure skating and tennis programs, and provides equipment at no additional cost, as it is available.
