Pamela Smith said the best part of her job is dealing with people.
She started her new role as the Hope Town Clerk on Aug. 18. She is a familiar face to many in the area having served as town clerk in neighboring Appleton for 29 years.
She said she has had other jobs including a recent stint doing billing work for Viking Lumber, but said she missed the customer interaction that comes with working with the public in a town office setting.
Smith lives in Searsmont. She has two sons and two granddaughters.
She is a graduate of Camden-Rockport high school.
Smith replaces Robert Menas, who resigned in July.
