TENANTS HARBOR — An exhibition of works by artist Marjorie Strauss will be held at the Granite Gallery, 68 Main St. There is an opening reception on Friday, Sept. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. Show hours are Saturday through Tuesday, Sept. 4 through 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Strauss has worked as a graphic designer for many years, but her art training was as a painter. With the strange times in the last year, and having more time in the studio, she has begun to revisit her three-dimensional work. The tactility of pastel, with its forming shapes with fingers, has led to actually making something three dimensional. The images come from the mystery of symbolism, faces and the many masks we wear. “Working this way for me is less tied to the literal image, where I can explore evocative and expressive imagery,” she said.
