BELFAST — Join Coastal Mountains Land Trust to celebrate its annual Trails Challenge with a family walk at The Head of Tide Preserve Tuesday, Aug. 24, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Participants will explore ecology through games and nature art that is guided by their senses. This adventure will be youth-focused, but everyone is welcome and encouraged to join the fun. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Coastal Mountains’ Trails Challenge is in full swing! Through the month of September, participants can hike, run, bike or paddle on any trail in the area and support the construction of Coastal Mountains’ 50-plus miles of public trails. While there is no cost to enter, every mile completed and logged will result in a dollar donated by local businesses. To log miles and have a chance to win a weekly prize from a sponsoring business, go to coastalmountains.org/trails.

Directions to Head of Tide Preserve: From downtown Belfast, take Main Street west and immediately turn right on Waldo Avenue (Route 137). In 1.5 miles, turn right on Doak Road. Parking is on the right immediately after Doak’s Machine Shop.
