THOMASTON — A motorcycle traveling at more than 90 miles per hour eluded police from two counties Aug. 15.
The incident began before 8 a.m. Officers in Lincoln County, including in Wiscasset, were trying to pull over the motorcycle — which carried a driver and a female passenger.
At around 8 a.m., Knox County was alerted and made contact with the motorcycle on Route 1, but did not engage in a high-speed pursuit because of the speed and traffic conditions. The motorcycle sped through Main Street in Thomaston at more than 90 miles per hour, passing vehicles by driving down the middle of the road.
Thomaston and Rockland were also alerted and the motorcycle turned around in Rockland before heading south on Route 1.
The vehicle continued on into Lincoln County. Lincoln County Communications referred questions about the case to Wiscasset Police Chief Lawrence Hesseltine.
A telephone message was left Aug. 15 with the chief.
