WALDOBORO — Medomak Valley High School student-athletes will begin fall practices on Monday, Aug. 16, and the following are the preseason times — which will change when school begins — and coaches’ contact information for each Panther sport:

• Cross country: George Gould at 215-9729 or gmgould7@gmail.com. Runners will meet on the track 6 to 7:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday until school begins.

• Golf: Kevin Richardson at 860-803-6094 or kevin_richardson@msad40.org. Student-athletes interested in golf should meet 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Rockland Golf Club. Appropriate attire is required on the course.

• Cheer: Heather Simmons at 691-5151 or khisimmons@hotmail.com. Cheerleaders will meet 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 16-17 in front of the gymnasium.

• Girls soccer: Darryl Townsend at 975-2700 or stormcoachdt@gmail.com. Girls interested in trying out should meet at 5:30 p.m. at the middle school soccer field. Preseason practices will run 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Girls should bring cleats, sneakers, mouth and shin guards to each preseason practice.

• Boys Soccer: Brian Campbell at 215-3111 or brian_campbell@msad40.org. Boys interested in trying out should meet at 5:30 p.m. on the high school baseball field. Practices will run 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Cleats, sneakers, mouth and shin guards are required.

• Football: Ryan Snell at 735-4769 or rsnell3232@hotmail.com. Athletes will meet at 4 p.m. on the front field at the high school. Preseason practices will run 4 to 6 p.m. until school begins.

Medomak Middle School’s preseason sports begin on Monday Aug. 30. Specific times will be released soon.

MVHS and MMS student-athletes must return a completed Sports Participation Approval Form, along with proof of sports physical and health insurance, before or on the first day. Those forms, along with other required forms, can be downloaded at msad40.org under “Athletics,” then “Form.”

Parents can turn in paperwork at the main offices, fax to the attention of athletic director Matt Lash at 832-2280, via email, or by handing it in on the first date. Each athlete should come to practice in the appropriate clothing and footwear. Be prepared for hot conditions. Bring plenty of water or sports drinks. Soccer players are required to wear shin and mouth guards.
