ROCKLAND — Barbara Alice Moran passed away Aug. 2, 2021, at her home in Rockland.

She was born March 5, 1952, in New York City to Thomas Moran and Elizabeth Russell (nee Bynum).

Barbara grew up in Connecticut, but fell in love with Maine and made the state her home in 2002. She loved the arts, music, her garden and supporting her community through her work at Kno-Wai-Lin Hospice and Homecare and continued involvement with local charities. Her partner, Terry La Mar, was by her side for many years of wonderful memories, and her final days at home. Barbara had visions of joining their late dog, Finn, in her final weeks.

She is survived by her three children Max Welsh and his wife Aimee of Yarmouth, Jesse Welsh of Norwalk, Conn., Anne Simson of San Francisco, Calif., and three grandsons Cameron, Wesley and Harrison. She also leaves behind siblings Cathy Vermylen and her husband, Peter, Peter Moran and his wife, Heidi, David Moran and his wife, Fanny, and Jim Moran and his wife, Adie, along with many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Area Interfaith Outreach, a local Rockland food pantry, at P.O. Box 113, Rockland ME 04841.

A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, Aug. 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Barn at Primo Restaurant in Rockland. Her ashes will be spread in Penobscot Bay, at her request.
