OWLS HEAD — The driver of a car that knocked down a utility pole July 31 on Ash Point Drive was taken to the hospital.

The crash occurred at about 10:30 a.m. A car, driven by an older woman, went off the road while traveling north on Ash Point Drive. The car struck and knocked down a utility pole.

Electricity was knocked out for 522 customers in Owls Head, according to Central Maine Power’s web site. Traffic was also rerouted. The crash occurred a few hundred yards south of the Ash Point Community School.

The road was re-opened around noon.
