Two more Knox County residents were diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past day, the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported July 30.

No additional hospitalizations or deaths were reported for Knox County residents in the past day. Since the pandemic began, 1,193 Knox County residents were diagnosed with the virus, 36 were admitted to hospitals, and seven died.

A total of 26,401 people in Knox County are fully vaccinated, amounting to 75% of the people eligible to receive the shots. This is unchanged from the past two days.

Statewide, an additional 111 cases of COVID-19 were reported in the past day with no additional deaths reported, keeping the number at 899. Two additional person statewide has been hospitalized in the past day, increasing that number to 2,141 since the pandemic began.

Forty-one people are in hospitals currently across the state with 16 in critical care units and nine on ventilators.

Health officials say that the rapid spread of the Delta variant is being worsened by the failure of more people to be vaccinated.
